About Rose Quartz
As the name suggest Rose Quartz belongs to the quartz group of crystals. It has a hardness of 7 on Moch's scale and based on its chemical composition it is a Silicon Dioxide. Quartz name originates from Greek language (krustallos) where it means ice. This name was given, because in the beginning it was believed that quartz was actually ice that was created by the Gods.
Due to its lovely pink color Rose Quartz is commonly referred to as heart crystal and also it is a symbol of unconditional love. Its color can vary from very deep pink to almost completely pale pink. The intensity of pink color depends on the presence of different minerals (Titanium, Manganese and others) inside Rose Quartz.
Some of the largest resources of this type of quartz are found in Brazil, Madagascar, USA, India and South Africa. Overall, Rose Quartz is considered to be quite common crystal. It is mostly found in large masses, but it happens that smaller clusters are discovered as well. Lighter pink color tends to be more common in smaller quartz clusters and deeper pink shade typically occurs in larger size stones.
Some Rose Quartz pieces can cause asterism effect (A Star effect). It is possible to see this mentioned effect whenever rutile needles are present in a stone.
